For those true golf fans following this weekend's Ryder Cup coverage will require some very early morning rising. How early you ask? Well Friday’s opening round action from The Twenty Ten Course at Celtic Manor in Newport, Wales will at 2:30am in the morning on ESPN.

There will be a replay of the action later in the day from 1pm to 10pm if you would rather watch your golf at a time that suits your schedule better.

The ESPN team will be anchored by Mike Tirico and 2008 U.S. Ryder Cup captain Paul Azinger. The rest of the roster will feature Curtis Strange, who was the Ryder Cup Captain in 2002 and played in the event five times, and Andy North, who also played in the Ryder Cup. In addition, Judy Rankin, Bill Kratzert and Peter Alliss, an eight-time Ryder Cup member, will serve as analysts Tom Rinaldi will provide essays and interviews, and Rick Reilly will contribute commentaries and essays.
The weekend coverage belongs to NBC where they will fill Saturday with Ryder Cup action from 8am to 6pm. Then be back for the final day of action Sunday from 7am to 1pm.

Dan Hicks and analyst Johnny Miller, in their 11th season together as NBC Sports’ lead golf team, anchor coverage and are joined by tower reporters Gary Koch, Peter Jacobsen and Brad Faxon; on-course reporters Roger Maltbie, Mark Rolfing and Dottie Pepper; and interviewer/essayist Jimmy Roberts.

Here are a few choice observations from the NBC team on the Ryder Cup:

Miller: “Ryder Cuppers are rare breeds…The Ryder Cup is pretty much about who can make pressure putts. If you look at the run by the Europeans, they’ve had such great success and they’re the guys who hole the putts. The U.S. guys didn’t and that includes Tiger and Phil and everybody else. The last Ryder Cup both sides played really good golf tee-to-green but it was the U.S. that made the putts and Europe that didn’t. Under pressure, it always goes to the putter.”

Koch: “It’s been 17 years since the United States team last won on foreign soil.”

Miller: As for Tiger Woods the bottom line is if he wins his first match and his second match, he’s playing every match. If he’s losing them, then we’ll talk about it.”
